CFA PSM (Practical Skills Module)

The Practical Skills Module (PSM) is designed to strengthen your real-world knowledge through a structured learning approach. Each module combines videos, multiple-choice questions, guided practice, and case studies to help you develop essential practical skills.

To receive your CFA exam result on the result day, completing at least one PSM at every level is mandatory. You can begin your chosen PSM topic anytime after registration. Each PSM requires 10–20 hours to complete.

Yes. The CFA Institute (CFAI) offers scholarships that include a waived enrollment fee and discounted registration. There are 3 types of CFA scholarships available:

All CFA scholarships include a waived enrollment fee and discounted registration

General eligibility: NOT eligible if currently registered for the CFA exam or waiting for CFA results

The Access Scholarship CFA reduces your CFA Program exam registration to USD 400 (plus applicable tax). There are four CFA scholarship windows each year, aligned to the CFA exam windows.

Both these courses are great choices. CFA builds in-depth knowledge in investment management, while CA focuses on accounting, regulation, and taxation. Choose based on the depth you want to build: If markets, valuation, QM, and real-world finance excite you, CFA is a strong fit. If your interest is accounting and compliance, CA aligns better. Both can complement long-term goals, but the decision should match your passion and willingness to put in sustained work.

CFA exams run on a quarterly schedule each year—Level 1 is offered each quarter, Level 2 three times, and Level 3 twice.

Registration is a simple two-step process.

Step 1 — Register for your exam

Sign up for your chosen CFA Level (Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3) through the official CFA Program portal using the link here.

Step 2 — Schedule your appointment

Once your registration and payment are complete, a "Schedule your exam" option appears in your CFA Program tile. This opens the Prometric scheduling tool, where you can choose from available test centers, dates, and times.

Expect your CFA exam results 5–8 weeks after your exam window closes. The CFA Institute will email you when your official results are ready. Your outcome will be "pass" or "fail", along with topic-level performance and an overall scale score so you can compare your performance to the Minimum Passing Score.
